Ikea is the largest furniture company in the world. They manufacture and sell ready-to-assemble furniture, appliances, and home accessories. So why is it important? Well, because they are such a large company and have been around for a long time, chances are you have some of this furniture in your house, an Ikea table, some chairs, a nightstand or something like that and you may need a little repair or customization to get its shine back. Ikea tables and some of their other products are also great because you can take almost any of their parts and mix and match them, you can make a table of any height you want, in any style. So with that being said, I want to share with you some ideas for bringing pizazz back to your Ikea tables.

  • Ikea tables are a lot of fun to work with, since they are not too expensive and quite common to come by, I have noticed that people incorporate their own design, decoration and modify angles and cuts to create their own style and custom table. The most common way to personalize your table is with paint or decals such as flowers and stencils, this always gives your table a new look and is also very easy to do, all it takes is a little imagination.
  • Another really cool idea is to turn the piece you have now into a gaming table. Think of a favorite board game that you like to play and put it out on your table. A chess / checkers layout is very simple to do. Other types of board games may require a little more attention to detail.
  • A quick and easy modification is to cut the table in half and use it as a corner piece for some plants or maybe a lamp of some kind. Of course, doing this type of modification requires care because making a mistake could mean your table is going to waste.
  • The Ikea table could also be made to suit specific types of instruments. I’ve seen these tables revised to fit turntables and other DJ gear.
  • Another idea that I recently came across is to turn your old table into a children’s game table. A place where they could keep their crayons, toys and books and also have their own area to enjoy these things.

So take a look at the house. You may have some Ikea tables that need a bit of customization or maybe one that just needs a personal touch. I hope these thoughts have been helpful. Happy carpentry!
