Since biblical times, essential oils have been used for everything from purification to healing infections to modifying mood. This short manual will explain how the wonderful qualities and capabilities of these oils can be of great help in fighting the side effects of cancer treatment.

… but first, a little information about essential oils is helpful.

What is an essential oil? It is “the essence” of a plant, which is removed by compression, vaporization, dissolution or distillation. These oils produce the strongest odors, tastes, or medicinal properties due to their origin. However, not all essential oils are the same. Therapeutic grade essential oils are compressed, steamed, dissolved, or distilled from plants that have been grown organically or those that have been grown wild in a clean environment. Also, these plants have had no chemical fertilizers added to the soil in which they were grown and no herbicides or pesticides have been used in growing crops. Not only do therapeutic grade essential oils possess stronger healing qualities than non-therapeutic grade ones, you actually run the risk of damaging the use of a non-therapeutic grade essential oil. So be sure to check the bottle for therapeutic-grade verbiage before purchasing.

Here is a list of several essential oils that may be of benefit to you during your cancer treatment. Each of these essential oils has other therapeutic properties than I have listed, however I will only address the specific properties of cancer and its effects in this article.

Basil It can be helpful for stomach upset, headaches, and migraines. It can also increase mental clarity and ease depression.

Begamot It has been reported to increase white blood cell counts along with relief from anxiety and depression.

Fennel oil it is good for constipation, nausea and vomiting.

Incense it has shown promise in treating skin cancer. Remember that any alternative cancer treatment should not be considered a complete cancer treatment protocol.

Lavender It is known to relieve muscle pain, reduce inflammation, relieve headaches, and boost the immune system. It can also promote a calm mood.

Roman or German chamomile It can be used to soothe and heal wounds and help relieve PMS symptoms. They also have a calming effect on the entire body. This is why some people drink chamomile tea before going to sleep.

Sandalwood It is useful for urinary tract infections and dry skin. Plus, it calms the mind when it comes to chronic illness and the stress that comes with it.

There are many more beneficial essential oils in addition to these, but these are a great place to start. Look for more information from me in the near future on this intriguing topic.
