Think about it: does the world revolve around you?

To quote Shakespeare, the world is a stage. We all play separately. It’s not focused on you. Why do you expect a room full of people to greet you with amazement when you walk in? You expect them to focus on you.

How are your relationships? Do you always expect your needs to come first? In this world, people do the best they can as they go through life. You should not expect your needs to be met by one segment of society, such as your co-workers, friends, and family. You must find it frustrating when you stay in the background.

In any relationship there must be a healthy exchange of ideas, values and beliefs. Disagreement is healthy up to a point. Can you accept it when no one listens to what you have to say? Or, you’ve mastered the art of manipulating a conversation so that it allows you to take center stage. Why should anyone care to discuss the issues you bring up? You already have the answer. The truth is, you don’t care what someone has to say, especially if it contradicts your point of view or suggests a polite rebuttal.

Socially, your standards are set differently because you have to get your needs met first. Conversations turn into a monologue because you have so much to tell about you, you and you. People like you have a common denominator: being self-centered, self-absorbed and inconsiderate of the feelings of others. You only care about yourself.

In most situations, it can’t be bothered. All that matters is that you get what you want to the exclusion and disrespect for the needs of others. Oh yes, you are a master in the art of manipulation. When something goes wrong, you are impeccable and blameless. Always someone else is to blame.

Are you capable of loving someone more than yourself? Do you know how to be affectionate? You may be able to show some kind of care. How sincere is this? In relationships, can you radiate warmth to those you are supposed to love? You may be cold-blooded and indifferent.

Unfortunately, we all know people who have this sense of entitlement, who behave as if the world owes them. Create an unpleasant atmosphere when an egocentric person is around. It is also exhausting and stressful. There are ways to treat or deal with people like that.

This attitude may reflect how they view their self-esteem.
