Dubai is widely known for having the biggest and tallest of everything, and if you drive down Sheikh Zayed Road, you’ll notice some of the world’s tallest skyscrapers line the road. With the Burj Dubai already standing at over 150 stories, and expected to be completed by this time next year, it’s also worth noting that not all properties in Dubai are high-rise, though they may not seem like it. Dubai’s freehold real estate market is a great mix of high-rise and low-rise properties, because not everyone wants to live hundreds of feet above the ground, although the views are great!

Low-rise options in the Dubai real estate market

The most obvious way to live low to the ground in Dubai is to buy a villa. The villas are large, spacious and have a garden. However, the only problem that seems to persist with the villas is that they are expensive. There is a shortage of villas available on the Dubai freehold market, which in turn has pushed prices up quite a bit, meaning it will cost you several million for even a modest purchase. While villas are often necessary for the large family, not all property buyers need or want this much space, or care about having a garden. However, if we think of apartments as an option, our immediate thoughts turn to high-rise buildings, which are the majority of them. You could buy an apartment in a high-rise but low to the ground, which will actually save you money since views come at a premium, or you could buy an apartment in a low-rise building. With the Burj Dubai right next door, you might be surprised to learn that Downtown Dubai has a great selection of low-rise apartments in the underdeveloped Old Town, to reflect traditional Arabian architecture. Palm Jumeirah, Uptown Mirdiff and Al Badia Hillside Community are also worth mentioning.

Skyscraper Options That Are Worth It

Coming back to the usual apartments that Dubai has to offer, there are so many great options to choose from, if you can’t find what you’re looking for in the low-rise regions. Apartments in Dubai Marina continue to attract real estate investors as there are a plethora of options and price ranges all in one place. The amenities and facilities are excellent and it is right in the center of new Dubai. Again, downtown Dubai also has high-rise properties, so you really have a choice here, although expect prices to be higher due to the great location. We are especially looking forward to some of the properties that will take shape in Dubailand in the coming years. We will keep you informed with new developments!
