Microsoft Office Word 2007 allows you to enter a wide range of symbols in the document. The Symbols dialog box is an additional tool in Microsoft Office Word 2007 that was not available in the previous version.

First, you need to place the insertion point where you want to insert the symbol. After that, you need to go to Insert > Symbols. In the Symbols dropdown menu, you need to select symbols. Once you have selected Symbols, a menu list will appear on the right. The menu list contains the most used symbols.

If you can’t find the symbol you want to use in the menu on the right, you should click More Symbols. After clicking More Symbols, the Symbols dialog will appear. To insert a symbol, just double click on it. In the Font dropdown menu, you can select the type of font for the symbols. In the Subset dropdown menu, you can select the subset style of the symbols. Most people use the basic Latin subset. Under Recently Used Symbols, there is a list of symbols that you used recently. The most recently used symbol will be displayed first.

If you want to insert special characters, you need to click on the Special Characters tab. To insert a special character, you can double click on it and select the Insert button. If you want to know the shortcut key of a special character, you need to select the special character and click the Shortcut Key… button. If you want to replace a symbol in the document, you can click the AutoCorrect button. When the AutoCorrect dialog box appears, you need to enter the search term in the Replace field and the replaced term in the width field. For example, if you enter the search term © in the Replace field and (c) in the with field, the © symbol will be replaced with (c) as you type.
