Webkinz, Lil Kinz, Zumbuddy and especially now Signature Webkinz have become quite popular. With only about 5 years under his belt, he’s become quite a problem and to think he hasn’t even been a huge success for all that time. If you are the parent of someone who has become obsessed with them or even if you are the one who is now obsessed with it, you are not alone and you will want to argue that it surely has not been that short.

Ganz had started to remove some of his webkinz, but he definitely realized it’s a much bigger problem. There are now hundreds of current webkinz and they usually issue 4 regular size webkinz and 3 Signature Webkinz each month. They have started to realize their mistakes, as they tried to remove one every week for the last month, it does not solve the problem, but it allows the multiplication of the current webkinz. This still leaves the opportunity to en masse retreat a group of them like I see them doing. Some of this depends on how much stock they have. They have done a much better job of not producing too many that sit in reserve for months and months. Retired Webkinz can still be adopted and their secret code will continue to work with the Webkinz World website. This means that the entire company will no longer produce or sell webkinz in particular. But it’s a really big deal for collectors, as people will continue to find these webkinz to use on their accounts, taking even more off the market.

As with any investment, supply and demand determine the value of Webkinz. What makes them stand out is that they are not just stuffed animals, they also provide games and entertainment for a while for kids and kids at heart. Some have really skyrocketed in a short period of time due to their limited existence for one reason or another. It’s true that most people tend to buy them as soon as they come out rather than wait unless their wish list is too long, which may be the case.

For example, consider that the retired Cheeky Dog Webkinz retailed for around $11.99. You can’t even buy just the stuffed animal for that anymore, since that alone has sold for over $100. Think about whether you were smart enough to keep it in great condition with the code still attached. You can easily sell them for $400 or more if not $1000. Now take a step back and really think about it. You can buy a real dog for less than that. Of course, that doesn’t include dog care, but the virtual dog/stuffed animal requires nothing more than a safe place to house it, which is minimal. Obviously, not all of them are as high as the sassy dog returns, but there is plenty of earning potential available. You have the webkinz Cheeky Cat which sells for about half and the webkinz Love Puppy in particular has made a huge jump and always jumps again when Valentine’s Day rolls around. Even taking a look at other Webkinz, in just a few months you can see your Webkinz like Eagle or Chipmunk fetching $30 or more, already more than double what you paid for it. Even one of the most recent Sea Otter Webkinz retirees jumped a few bucks after retirement.

Lil Kinz Webkinz is in a unique spot right now. Signature webkinz, Zumbuddy webkinz, and regular webkinz have caught the interest of many consumers, but not many seem to realize that they’re not making more lil kinz unless of course you’ve read our article on this before. It’s almost like buying penny stocks since you don’t know if it will multiply by tons or disappear. The chances of them disappearing are unlikely, but when you can buy them for $8, there’s not much to lose.

Speaking of Signature Webkinz, those have been the biggest winners as they’ve been selling for $25, but the problem is that retailers can only get 6 of them at a time per month unless they have connections. With how they are so naturally soft, real and bigger too, they have been a huge hit. I mean look at the webkinz Signature Golden Retriever (full size, not the little webkinz signature golden retriever) which is now fetching close to $200 in about a year. Many of the others are rapidly gaining traction as supply has been small at first and if no more enter the market it will only increase in value. The downside to this is the large upfront costs because to pick up 4 of them, you’re easily paying over $100, so it’s not a silly change.

So if it were an exact science, a lot of people would buy all the right Webkinz and strike it rich. Some have already become quite rich just by buying low and selling high or at least holding it for a while. It certainly far outweighs the interest on a savings account, but you have to be patient. So even if this extreme excitement doesn’t continue, you can still earn a dime. The quality of the new Webkinz is amazing and supplies have still been limited and don’t forget that many of these children have younger brothers and sisters and will have children. Even parents get involved to play with them online. So Ty, the creator of Beanie Babies, just turned 20 recently, but there’s so much more to the Webkinz than just beanies. You will not be disappointed if only to interact with your little ones. That’s worth more than a ton of money because they won’t be little forever. Enjoy them while you can!
