Although some 54 million Americans have swum naked with other people, nudism is still not considered a widespread idea. People who are committed nudists (or naturists, as many prefer to be called) are a minority. But there is reason to believe that there are quite a few other people who have some interest in being nudists, at least on occasion. For example, a survey found that 15% of Americans were open to considering nude activities or resorts when planning vacations. When a man is such an “occasional” nudist, what does he need to know about the health of his penis? Do you need to take any measures to protect the penis?

Yes, it is a good idea to be prepared. And the following are some things to consider.

Start slowly in the sun. If one’s nudist experience includes a beach or other area where there is strong direct sunlight, be sure not to overdo it. It goes without saying that you need to use a good, strong sunscreen; however, the sunscreen may wear off, so it needs to be reapplied. Even when sunscreen is used conscientiously, the delicate skin of the penis that is not used to direct sunlight can be damaged. So for proper penis protection, approach things slowly. If beachwear is optional, wear a bathing suit every now and then, especially when the sun is at its strongest. If clothing is not allowed, wrap a towel around your waist or lie on your stomach.

Be on the lookout for poison ivy. When camping or hiking naked, or even anywhere with lots of plant life, keep an eye out for poison ivy, oak, and sumac and know how to recognize them. The last thing a man wants to do is find his penis and balls crashing into a patch of poison ivy. The itching and rash that can result can be a nightmare. It’s also important to remember that the oils from the plant that causes the rash can be passed from one person to another, so avoid touching someone else who has also been in contact with the plant.

Rinse after diving into the ocean. It can feel great to swim naked in the ocean, letting the waves wash over your body. But as refreshing and invigorating as it may be, spending too much time in salt water can dry out the sensitive skin on the penis. After spending time in the ocean, take a moment to rinse the excess salt off the penis.

Expect insects. Without clothing barriers, it is easier for insects to make their presence felt on the penis. And the delicate skin of the penis is not made for the harsh chemicals in many insect repellants. So, practice better penis protection by inspecting the penis and balls for mosquito bites, ticks, and other unwanted visitors. Be especially careful with ticks, as there are numerous tick-borne diseases (such as Lyme disease) that a man does not want to deal with.

If a man practices good penis protection, he can more fully enjoy the carefree nude experience. Your mind will also rest more at ease if you are already taking steps to ensure penis health, such as regular use of a superior penis health cream. (Health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven to be gentle and safe for the skin). Ideally, the cream will have a wide range of vitamins, such as A, B5, C, D, and E, to help “cover the basics” when it comes to vitamin-based health. It also helps if the cream contains an amino acid known as L-arginine. This ingredient helps the body produce nitric oxide and, in turn, helps keep the blood vessels in the penis open and fluid when more blood is needed.
