Even if the iPad is a very effective media center device, there’s little chance you’ll have another PC in your office or a laptop at home. All of them can receive and send emails, images, videos and store contact information. It would be very helpful if we could synchronize them all. And it is possible, but only with MobileMe. What is MobileMe? First of all, contrary to what many have believed, it is not a free Internet provider. You still have to pay your company for that. Instead, this is what it allows you to do:
- Synchronize all your emails, documents and calendar. For example, let’s say you left your iPAD or i-Phone at a friend’s house and on the way home you get an important email. You don’t have to turn the flange. MobileMe actually sends the message to your home PC or office laptop. In this case, you can read them whenever you want.
- find your i-Phone or iPad: It often happens to all of us that we find ourselves in the strange situation of forgetting where we have possibly left our keys, our wallet or, in our case, our i-Phone or iPad. Again, MobileMe can help you very easily: just install the Find Your i-Phone setup, log in to me.com from any computer, and you’ll see a map with the approximate location of your device. Also, if your device has been stolen, you can set a lock code to protect your content.
- access the online photo and video gallery. You can load a large number of photo albums and video galleries using a special hard drive called i-Disk. This is available at me.com at the price of $49 per year. (40gb capacity)
- use MobileMe Gallery with Apple TV. This application allows you to view your photo gallery in wide screen.
The cost of MobileMe is $100 per year. This does not include the i-Disk.
