Climbing mountains is definitely fun, right?

When you and your family and friends are looking for an outdoor adventure that many, if not all of those considering to be a part of the team can attend and participate in, most of the time they end up choosing to climb mountains.

Well, we can never blame you for that, as we also know how exciting this particular activity is. However, before you start preparing your climbing needs and donning your climbing gear and hiking shoes, take the time to first learn a few additional tips to help you along your journey.

In our previous article, we talked about six practical tips, while in this article we are going to cover seven additional tips for your great trekking adventure. So read on to know about these things.

1. Map. Plan. Plan… especially if it’s your first time! Nothing can beat good planning. You need to strategize on how to make your adventure worth remembering.

2. Aim for a more challenging climb next time. Since you already have the experience of going to the top of a mountain, try something new on your second ascent. You can opt for the expedition peaks as your next stop as they require long hikes, great technical climbing skills and sufficient mountaineering experience. So every time you go climbing, make it a goal.

3. Get an experienced and reliable guide. Be sure to get guidance from a reputable guide who is connected to a reputable mountain climbing operator. Remember that your trekking experience will be affected by altitude and terrain. Therefore, it is very important that an experienced partner is at bay.

4. Be prepared. Preparation is key when it comes to ensuring that you’ll enjoy every experience you’ll get on your way to the top. If you live far from the mountain you plan to visit, be sure to book your flight (or transportation) and lodging by the time you arrive in the area near the adventure. You should also ask about permits and other legal requirements.

5. Know what’s coming. Before reaching the top, some climbers may need to stay at a base camp for a while. Find out if your mountain climbing adventure requires it. By the way, when you are at your base camp, maximize your stay by checking if all your equipment is intact and complete.

6. Start hitting the mountain. Yes, it starts to rise. The excitement will now officially begin. But we have a piece of advice: stick to your route. By doing so, you will be less likely to have accidents, since you will be taking the route for which you have really prepared.

7. Disembark only when you still have enough time to disembark safely. Contrary to what others may believe, going down is actually more difficult than going up, since you need to control the fall of gravity. Therefore, be very careful.

With these things you’ve been given now, we’re sure you’re already giddy to start your mountain climbing escapade, right?
