Sometimes I hear from women who have just got married (or are seriously dating a man) and are trying to gauge what kind of baby this man could help them produce. Some people may find this wish insignificant or silly. But I understand this inclination. Many women have dreamed of the child they could have their whole life. And, many are already married and committed to the relationship regardless of their gender in the future. So even though they are curious about which gender they are most likely to produce, it’s not like they’re going to end the relationship if they don’t get the gender they want.

I heard a woman say, “I got married six months ago. In a few more months, we want to start trying to have a baby. I have my heart set on having a girl. Are there any tests I can take to make sure I can conceive one? girl? Or to tell me which sex you are most likely to conceive? “

This woman might be happy to know that, barring some kind of injury or illness, a healthy man is said to produce equal amounts of permanent Y (which produces boys) and X of sperm (which produces girls). This is a factor in ensuring that the birth rates are about the same. She was a little happy to hear this, but she was also a little disappointed that she couldn’t do some kind of diagnostic test that would tell her what gender she might be in her future.

In my opinion, there is a test you can do, but test the woman, not the man. You can test the PH of the future mother. It is said that a woman who is more acidic is more likely to have a baby because that same acidity discourages Y sperm. The test is simply done at home with a PH tester. They usually come with a table to tell you where you are in terms of being acidic or alkaline.

Many people mistakenly assume that if they taste and find that they are acidic, then they are definitely going to have a girl without a doubt. However, they assume that an alkaline reading means a child. It is not like this. It just means that you have a vaginal environment that is more conducive to one type of sperm than another. Your husband, partner, or boyfriend will likely deposit equal amounts of Y sperm as X sperm. But your vaginal environment may put off some of those sperm. Still, both Xs and Ys are likely to remain, regardless of vaginal environment. This is why it is important to do more than one thing to influence your baby’s gender.

Scheduling the time of conception before ovulation (for a girl) or after (for a boy) is one more way to discourage sperm who don’t want them fighting for the egg. Also, the sexual positions you use can be classified as suitable for boys or girls. All three are important because each will help discourage or get rid of the sperm you don’t want so that more of the sperm you do want (in this woman’s case, it was the X sperm or the female sperm) the best chance of being the first to reach the egg and then produce the genre of your choice.

So to answer the question posed, while a doctor can certainly assess your husband’s sperm count and overall health, most men have boys and girls producing sperm in roughly equal amounts. But testing the woman’s PH can tell you if her vaginal environment is more or less friendly to the girl’s sperm. If this woman tested and found it to be alkaline (which is friendlier to male sperm), she could change her diet or try a douche regimen to become more alkaline. And she could conceive before ovulation and use the correct sexual positions.
