Known as the ‘Land of a Thousand Hills’, Rwanda is a landlocked country located in the Great Lakes Region of eastern and central Africa. It shares borders with four countries; Burundi, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania.

The Lakes: Rwanda is situated in the Great Lakes region and has many beautiful and serene lakes bordering it. Tourists from all over the world come to get a view of these serene Rwandan lakes. There are five volcanic lakes that are located on the border of Congo and Rwanda and have their own attractions. The major lakes in Rwanda include Lake Ruhondo, Lake Burera, Lake Mugesera, Lake Kivu, Lake Muhazi, and Lake Ihema. The lakes in Rwanda offer ample scope for slipping, swimming, canoeing and water skiing.

The National Parks – The National Parks of Rwanda are the most visited tourist attractions by all those who travel to this country endowed with nature. They are home to a variety of wildlife, including mountain gorillas, giant elephants, impalas, deer, zebras, buffaloes, and giraffes. Some of the most famous are Akagera, Nyungwe and Volcanoes National Parks. The parks enhance the beauty of the country and have given rise to a diversity of visitor-related activities, notably gorilla safaris on volcanoes.

The Genocide Memorial Centers: Following the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, several memorial centers were established to honor those who lost their lives. Since many of them could not be identified and were even eaten by wild animals, many were buried in mass graves with claims. of many mass graves dug by the victims before being hacked to death. These include the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, the Murambi Genocide Memorial Center, the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Center and the Nyamata Genocide Memorial Center.
